The Indian Theological Seminary (ITS), affiliated with the Senate of Serampore College (University), has been equipping students from India and abroad for Christian mission and ministry since its inception in 1990. Committed to holistic theological education, ITS seeks to form men and women for effective and faithful service in the Church and society. Each academic year reflects steady growth in teaching, learning, and research, as the Seminary remains dedicated to preparing servant-leaders for today’s world.
With a clear focus on Preaching Christ and Planting Churches, ITS takes pride in its graduates who serve the Lord in diverse ministerial capacities across India and around the globe. As a Seminary family, we look forward to reaching all people with the love of God and the transforming message of the Gospel.
During the academic year, students actively engage in field-based learning, research projects, seminars, and classroom instruction that integrate biblical scholarship with practical ministry experience. The faculty, through committed teaching, scholarly engagement, and personal mentorship, continue to enrich the academic environment. In addition, visiting professors and guest speakers provide valuable insights into contemporary contextual, missiological, and theological challenges.
ITS places strong emphasis on contextual theology, enabling students to relate Scripture meaningfully to the realities of India and the wider world. Academic seminars, paper presentations, and structured assessments—through assignments, research projects, digital learning platforms, and examinations—promote critical thinking, academic excellence, and spiritual maturity.
Beyond the classroom, field education and community service form an integral part of the curriculum, allowing students to apply theological learning in real-life ministry contexts. The Seminary also encourages holistic formation through co-curricular and community activities such as sports, cultural evenings, college picnics, and the observance of national and special days including Republic Day, Independence Day, Women’s Day, Teachers’ Day, and Children’s Day, fostering fellowship, leadership, and community life.
The Seminary gratefully acknowledges the continued support of churches, mission agencies, and friends who partner with us in nurturing the next generation of Christian leaders. Looking ahead, ITS seeks to strengthen research initiatives and expand library and learning resources. By God’s grace, we remain committed to shaping faithful leaders who will serve communities and proclaim the Gospel in India and beyond.
