Indian Theological Seminary offers dynamic and relevant theological education designed to equip students for effective ministry, leadership, and service in todayβs diverse and changing world. Programmes are available in both residential and non-residential modes, making theological education accessible to students from various walks of life.
Several of our academic programmes are offered under the affiliation of the Senate of Serampore College (University), ensuring recognized and academically rigorous theological training. In addition, Indian Theological Seminary has developed a range of independent programmes tailored to meet contemporary ministerial, pastoral, and missional needs. For those engaged in work or active church life, the Seminary offers Evening College Programmes, specially designed for lay people and working professionals who desire structured theological learning without leaving their regular responsibilities. Extending its vision beyond the campus, Indian Theological Seminary also provides theological education through local study centres across different regions of India, enabling students to pursue their studies within their own cultural and ministry contexts.
The theological curriculum at Indian Theological Seminary is holistic, interdisciplinary, and contextually rooted. It draws from a wide range of theological and social science disciplines, helping students develop a strong biblical foundation, theological depth, and practical ministry skills. Key areas of study include: Old Testament, New Testament, Christian Theology, Christian Ethics, History of Christianity, World Religions, Christian Ministry, Missiology, Communication and Social Analysis. Beyond the core disciplines, students are encouraged to engage deeply with contemporary and contextual issues through courses in: Inter-religious Dialogue, Indian Renascent Movements, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Cultural Studies, Social Ethics, Poverty, Development, and Social Justice.
Special focus is given to the study of Indian religions, traditions, philosophy, and modern movements, enabling students to respond thoughtfully and faithfully within Indiaβs pluralistic context. All theological studies are approached with a strong commitment to contextual relevance, empowering students to integrate faith, culture, and mission in meaningful ways.
