Hostel Life

  • Hostel Life

The Indian Theological Seminary (ITS) provides a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered hostel environment that functions as a true home away from home for more than 100 students. The hostel life is an integral part of the Seminary’s holistic formation, supporting students in their academic, spiritual, social, and personal growth.
ITS maintains separate hostel facilities for men and women, ensuring safety, comfort, and an atmosphere conducive to disciplined study and community living. The hostels are well-maintained, with each room equipped with beds, study tables, chairs, and storage shelves. Students are accommodated in shared rooms that encourage fellowship, cooperation, and mutual support.
Hostel life at ITS extends beyond accommodation and is deeply formative in nature. Students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds live together in harmony, experiencing unity in diversity. Daily routines include personal devotions, corporate prayers, Scripture meditation, and fellowship, nurturing spiritual discipline and Christ-like character.
The hostel community actively engages in sports, recreational activities, and cultural programs that promote physical well-being, emotional health, and strong interpersonal relationships. Many alumni recall hostel life as one of the most meaningful aspects of their seminary experience, where lifelong friendships were formed.
The hostels are administered through a collaborative system involving wardens, faculty oversight, and elected student representatives from each academic year. This participatory structure ensures effective communication, accountability, and shared responsibility. Regular pastoral care, counselling, and mentoring are provided to support students’ emotional and spiritual well-being.
The ITS hostel provides a particularly supportive environment for students from rural and economically challenged backgrounds, including first-generation learners. Through a culture of care, discipline, and encouragement, students are empowered to grow in confidence, responsibility, and leadership.
Hostel life is closely integrated with the Seminary’s ministry orientation. Students participate in outreach ministries, church plantings, evangelism, social service, and work-scholarship programs. These activities enable students to apply theological learning in real-life contexts and develop servant leadership skills.

Women’s Hostel (Queens Hostel)

The Queens Hostel offers a vibrant and grace-filled residential environment for women students, emphasizing spiritual, emotional, academic, and communal discipline. Regular devotions, prayer gatherings, and pastoral counselling foster deep spiritual growth. Shared responsibilities, leadership opportunities, and community service cultivate empathy, simplicity, and stewardship. Through structured discipline and ministry exposure, women students are shaped for Christ-centered leadership and service.
The hostel at Indian Theological Seminary is not merely a place of residence but a community of formation and transformation. It is a Christ-centered home where students are nurtured in faith, shaped in character, and prepared to serve the Church and society with wisdom, integrity, and love.
